Welcome back to The Kirchner Report! I’ve rebooted the newsletter and website with a new focus: automotive news. The previous version of this publication focused on industry analysis and opinion. While the analysis part is important, and you’ll find it with the new publication, it was becoming difficult to keep up with the opinion workload.

You might find some of that littered throughout the rebooted site, but there’s a bigger reason why I brought this back. I have colleagues out there doing great work; it’s safe to say there isn’t a ton of focus on the automotive news of the day. Additionally, industry consolidation has merged independent editorial voices into a combined singular style that steers away from anything controversial in an effort to preserve the clicks and revenue of the private equity owners.

Here, you’ll find news and exclusives written by a dedicated automotive journalist with over 10 years of industry experience. Along the way, you’ll also be introduced to some of my great colleagues and their takes on the state of the industry and the news of the day.

People are becoming frustrated with established news sources — the legacy media — and don’t want to be inundated with AI slop. You won’t find that anywhere here. With your support, either through a free email subscription, paid upgrade, financial tip, or even just sharing a story, you can feel confident that your support goes directly to helping an independent publication grow and succeed.
